Behaviour of a Clay and Gravel Mixture

In most construction works, crushed rock aggregates with angular shape are used as subgrade materials. However, naturally available rounded granular could be utilized in design of layers an alternative material for economic and environmental reasons. Therefore, a comparative study on the road pavement using two different shapes (angular rounded) same size (10–19 mm) has been conducted this paper. The California Bearing Ratio unconfined compressive strength tests were carried out mixtures clay contents (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% by dry weight) both order to evaluate influence these testing results. It was found that gravels showed greater maximum density, CBR value, well lower optimum water content than those gravels.
